Zambian multi talented top notch hit rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer – Macky 2, recently announced the intention of joining politics by running for the seat of Member of Parliament in the forthcoming 2026 General Elections. He is politically known as Mulaza Kaira, which is also his official facebook page for politics. Macky 2 recently posted that he has been arrested in Chingola, without providing any details of the charges or offences he has been detained for. In Zambia, it is very much common for politicans to keep getting arrest warrants or actually get detained especially during an election year like this. However the offences are not that serious as they spend few days on police cells and get released.
Macky 2 is not the only Zambian artist who has decided to join politics, others are Ba Napsa (A comedian), Bikiloni (A Comedian), Petersen Zagaze (A musician) and so on. Late last year, there was an uproar for the need of youth representation in politics and that is how many youths decided to give it a try.
