The Bank Of Zambia (BOZ) has announced the introduction of a new family of the Zambian currency. The new family of banknotes and coins will consist of six bank notes (K500, K200, K100, K50, K20, and K10) and six coins (K5, K2, KI, 5ON, 10N, and 5N). These new notes will be launched on 31st March, 2025. This is what the Bank Of Zambia says; The front of the banknotes features the flying African Fish Eagle with one of Zambia’s key economic sectors in the background. Endemic flowers on the long edges serve as a see-through register, adding a distinctive and fresh appearance to the denominations.
The reverse side of the banknotes features six of Zambia’s key waterfalls at the centre, with Zambia’s endemic animals at the bottom of each denomination.
Endemic trees are depicted on the left side, and the Big Five animals are Illustrated on the K20, K50, K100, K200, and K500 banknotes.
